INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE PROPOSED REPORT
If we want to create something, a lot of aspect we must take before we create it, in other else we also want to give a benefit to other people. The benefit for the manufacturing student UMP student is they can make a comparison between conventional milling machine and CNC milling machine and they also can make this comparison for research in their (PSM) “Projek Sarjana Muda”
This project also can give the benefit to the other student , the example of benefit is will know how the conventional milling machine and CNC milling machine works, know how to handle this machine, Can compare this machine work, Know the safety that must taken before use this machine.
We want to do this project because we know that manufacturing student have learn how to use this two machine but their don’t now the different of this to machine. So we decide to choose this title so the manufacturing student can compare and understand more than their study about this two machine.
This project also can use for student from the other faculty so they know what kind of this machine, What this machine can do and how this machine works.
OBJECTIVE OF STUDY
1.2 RESEARCH OBJECTIVE
To compare the effective of conventional milling machine and CNC milling machine for UMP manufacturing student.
To find out how to operate conventional milling machine and CNC milling machine work.
1.3 RESEARCH QUESTIONS
What is conventional milling machine and CNC milling machine?
How to operate of this two machine?
What is difference of conventional milling machine and CNC milling machine?
1.4 DEFINATION OF TEARMS
CNC- computer neumerical control, this thing will use in the milling machine to read the data from G-code into the machine
Milling machine – machine that use to cut the material like aluminum , stainless steel and hardened steel.
Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Milling is the most common form of CNC. CNC mills can perform the functions of drilling and often turning. CNC Mills are classified according to the number of axes that they possess. Axes are labeled as x and y for horizontal movement, and z for vertical movement. Milling is the process of machining flat, curved, or irregular surfaces by feeding the workpiece against a rotating cutter containing a number of cutting edges.
For this article, also discuss about the advantage and specifications for CNC Milling. For advantage, complex shapes from sheet material can be created and is cost so effective for short runs. For specification cnc milling machine requires software program tooling or work holding jigs and also to contain costs avoid large variations in work piece height and avoid
Study have show that CNC milling is most popular use to make a mechanical product like automotive part, machine part and etc although conventional milling machine also using until now. This is because conventional milling machine can reduce the cost to produce some product. But conventional milling machine don’t have a accuracy if compare with the CNC milling machine.CNC machine have high accuracy when it machine some product.
3.0 DATA COLLECTION METHOD
The survey will be conduct among the second year UMP Manufacturing student and the mechanical student. There will be 30 participant in this survey.
